Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
Psalm 91:1–2
Psalm 91 is a song of trust and protection, often called the “Psalm of Protection.” It was likely written during times of trouble or danger. While the exact author isn’t specified, many believe Psalm 91 was written by Moses or David. It’s one of the psalms expressing deep trust in God.
Every time I read this Psalm I miss my grandmother so much. She would always pray it out loud to us when we were about to leave her house and head home. I wholeheartedly believe her praying of Psalm 91 protected us on our continuous uneventful journeys between her house and ours. Thank you Granny Annie for your absolute trust in the Most High.
Was there ever and has there ever been a life like that of Jesus, the one who pre-eminently lived in that place of the Most High. He never acted out of self-will but under the direction of the Father, and absolute trust in Yahweh above all else just as the individuals who this Psalm portrays. Faith as an object of this trust is what we learn from them. We should accept the protection of God above all else, it is He alone who will keep you protected and safe.
