“They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.”
Psalm 112:7
This verse of the righteous believer focuses on the confidence and peace that come from placing full trust in God. When our hearts are ingrained in Him, we don’t live in anxiety or fear, even when bad news or difficult circumstances come our way. Instead, our faith steadies us, giving us courage and hope because we know God is in control and His promises never fail.
In today’s algorithmic world, where bad news can come quickly through news, social media, or personal trials, this verse encourages us to anchor our hearts in God rather than be overwhelmed by fear. It reminds us to develop a steadfast trust in the Lord through prayer, reading His Word, and leaning on His faithfulness. When we do, we can face challenges calmly and confidently, knowing God is our refuge and strength.
The Apostle Paul, who knew of trials and tribulations, reiterates the sentiment in Philippians 4:6-7, which encourages us.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
